Members of the PDTF organised a symposium at the ICCB in July 2019 that tackled how to incorporate phylogenetic diversity (PD) in conservation. The symposium convened academic researchers from the fields of phylogenetics and ecology with conservation practitioners from around the world. The topics presented contributed to the body of literature and best practice, forming the basis for initial discussions for the establishment of the Phylogenetic Diversity Task Force. Speakers presented cutting-edge research, practice, academic literature and provided tangible examples on how to prioritise PD in conservation in a way that is accessible to practitioners and decision-makers around the world.
